Richard M. Torres, Director of Human Resources

Richard M. Torres brings 18 years of experience and leadership in mid- to senior-level HR management with an emphasis on business systems and continuous process improvements. He combines proven leadership abilities with "in the trench" team coaching to maximize organizational effectiveness in today's competitive marketplace. Born in 1961, in Tijuana, Mexico, Richard's father was a farm worker who migrated across California. Richard earned a B.A. degree in business administration at San Diego State University in 1983. During a long and diverse career, he created, developed and implemented effective HR strategies and assured compliance with labor and safety laws and regulations for a wide array of businesses.

He was human resources manager for American Air Filters International in Ontario, Calif., the La Posta Casino in Boulevard, Calif., NDC Infrared Engineering in Irwindale, Sunridge Nuseries Inc. in Bakersfield, Kern Health Systems, Home Depot and Donald C. Harder Corp., with manufacturing plants in San Diego and Tijuana. Richard was also general manager at Gazelle Transportation Inc., a Bakersfield-based firm trucking crude oil from fields to refineries. Fluent in Spanish, he holds a Human Resources Certification from the American Management Association. He will oversee human resources for the entire farm worker movement.
