Comprehensive approach. The Chavez Foundation is proud to be more than a builder of homes. It is a builder of communities. It directly manages the 30 properties and 4,300 units of multi-family housing it has developed over a four-state region for Latino and other low-income working families and seniors. It also supplies badly needed on-site community services meeting the essential necessities of residents and their children. This comprehensive approach to affordable housing often brings about lasting improvements in - and changes the character of - surrounding, largely disadvantaged neighborhoods.
For the Chavez Foundation, property management encompasses much more than merely collecting rent. The goal is setting high standards of living for the hard-working, low-income families that make up its tenants.
Extensive amenities. These objectives are achieved by maintaining facilities that are clean, efficient, aesthetically pleasing and safe during both the day and night. Among wide-ranging amenities are playgrounds, swimming pools, computer labs and special accommodations for those with disabilities as well as particular language, cultural and transportation needs. Preventative maintenance, ongoing upgrades to the facilities and careful screening to identify stable, reliable and community-minded tenants protect and preserve the Chavez foundation's substantial social investments and guarantee the ability to offer affordable housing for poor working people well into the future.
Identifying needs. The Chavez Foundation's property managers receive extensive continuing staff development that teaches them to identify community and tenant needs and provide holistic services beyond gathering rent checks and making necessary repairs. Regular meetings are held for all residents covering issues such as safety and compliance. Events are hosted for families and friends. Manages at each project also work closely with their Si Se Puede Learning Centers to directly involve families in their children's lives and educations or with their Spirit, Mind and Body projects providing broad-based senior services.
